FAQ (Frequently asked questions)
What is a private business network?

TransCore Exchange® allows each user to set up a private network of business partners with whom he or she can simultaneously communicate shipment details and negotiate online. The ability to work with numerous business partners at once is just one way that TransCore Exchange can make you more efficient and profitable.
How do I reach new business partners that may be outside of my network?
Since there may be occasions when you are unable to meet your transportation needs within your private network, TransCore Exchange allows you to access a larger network of potential trading partners.
The online trading community is made up of other TransCore Exchange subscribers with whom you can communicate, negotiate and tender electronically. TransCore Exchange also provides access to TransCore's DAT® freight matching network.
How can I be sure that my data is safe and secure?
TransCore recognizes that the information on our servers is the lifeblood of our business. We take this responsibility very seriously. A very sophisticated security and data protection program protects the information in our systems against hackers, outages, equipment failures and even critical events like fires or natural disasters.
Checkpoint firewalls secure our systems from hackers. In addition, our servers, telecommunications equipment and network center are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by trained personnel to ensure that critical systems maintain operation at all times. In the event of a catastrophic failure, spare equipment vendor agreements ensure rapid recovery.
What will happen if TransCore's systems fail?
TransCore has redundant and duplicate systems and connections including firewalls, disk systems, switching and service providers. These measures provide back-up in the event of system failure to keep you up and running.
Will the Internet deliver the reliability my business needs?
The Internet will generally provide a very high level of system reliability. Once you have accessed the Internet, information can travel over thousands of different routes to get to our server, providing higher reliability than most information systems. The most vulnerable point will be your own Internet connection, so it is important that you take care in selecting your Internet Service Provider (ISP). In the event that your ISP goes down, it may affect only a few customers at any given time, which allows us to provide high levels of response through our voice-assisted contact center - something that none of our competitors can deliver.
How will I know I'm doing business with reputable companies when I use TransCore Exchange?
TransCore Exchange users will be subject to the same stringent qualification requirements that our current customers must meet. In addition, over time we will integrate several new capabilities into the service with the goal of verifying online information like credit reports, insurance information and Motor Carrier Authority - all updated in real-time for your peace of mind.
